Children’s Party Food Ideas | Tesco Food


Hi I’m Kate with a few simple tips I’m
going to show you how to create a fantastic kids birthday party now there are a few basic principles to
follow to make sure the party goes smoothly and I think the key thing to remember is portion control whether you’re feeding four, eight, or twenty
children or even more the basic principle is that each child is going to eat approximately one small bread roll, or three quarters of a sandwich a small cake, a packet of crisps and a few pieces of fruit, that’s it so don’t go crazy when you’re shopping, if you follow that basic format you should be ok the other thing is children eat with their eyes so as you can see that this spread in front of me looks really appealing to the
children, I’ve used toy trucks to put the crisps in and the popcorn, I’ve got things that are
a little bit more familiar like sausages and grapes and cheese on
sticks and I’ve simple wrapped a piece of foil around a swede and I can stick the cocktail sticks in there and it looks really effective the other thing I’m going to show you how to make today are these sandwiches and the way I’ve done that is using both white and brown bread so they’re getting something healthy we’re simply going to butter the bread and I’m just going to use some wafer-thin ham as a filling there we go and lay that across there and if I cut these into quarters if we turn them over you can see you have a nice checkerboard
effect and it’s going to be more appealing to the children put these on a plate the next thing I’m going to show you how to make are chocolate-dipped fruits which the children are going to love, we’ve got a selection of strawberries, banana and kiwi which are always popular and I’ve got some milk and white chocolate that have been melted in the mircowave now I did that on defrost at thirty second intervals and made sure I kept stirring because you don’t want the chocolate to burn, you want it to be nice and runny so what we’re going to do is take a nice baking tray that can fit in the fridge choose your fruit and I think we’ll dip this one in white chocolate, now I’m not going to dip the whole fruit because we want to see part of it sticking out and we just cover the end in some white chocolate and that will set in the fridge now I’ll just do a couple of pieces, a nice bit of banana, maybe we’ll do that with milk chocolate and we’re at least making sure they’re getting something healthy to eat although it is a bit of a treat and some strawberry just cut these in half as they’re quite large some white chocolate on that one really simple to do and as I say just ten minutes in the fridge and they’ll be ready to serve ok, and what we can do to make them really special is on the white ones I’ll do a little drizzle of milk chocolate like so and on the milk chocolate ones I’ll do a drizzle of white chocolate and these you can actually do the day ahead and then you’re a bit more organised so I’ll put those in the fridge for a good ten minutes and they’ll be ready to put on the plates what you’ll end up with are plates of delicious chocolate covered fruit which the children are going to love so you can see with just a few simple
tips you can really make sure that kids birthday party goes with a bang and that’s how you do a kids party

It is only pertinent that a caterer which uses fresh ingredients is chosen and whose cooking style does not compromise the nutritonal value of food.

  4. Kids eat what they are used to eating in the home everyday, those who are on here saying kids wont eat that..either 1-dont have kids or 2-eat processed crap alot themselves and are fat, unhealthy or both. So their kids most likely are aswell.
    I have a well balanced diet so my kids have aswell. So yeah my kids would love to eat this because they arent exposed much to the sugary greasy rubbish you see most people eat today. Fresh is best!

  6. I hated moms who were all about portion control, that's what made the worst parties, like, it's a birthday party, let them eat. and people will have more than you 'expected' so some don't get anything.

  7. How are these sandwiches an 'idea'? Sorry but those are seriously the plainest and ugliest sandwiches I've ever seen.

  8. I like the fruit with choc topping however could you Pls advise of I make a day before party, how can I save the bananas to not to go brown.

  9. I would make some sort of buffet lmfao. Let the kids eat what they want, I guarantee some kids will not like the things you just made.

  10. Why don’t you just dip the fruit slightly into the chocolate instead of making it hard and spooning it on
