holiday event wedding in DIY decor today I’m going to show you how to make
a carnival caged dessert table for your next carnival themed party here we go another project from my wishlist is to
have a carnival cage dessert table the infamous carbocation dessert table
that any event planner will want to have in the inventory I’m so excited to make
it I see picture something on Instagram on Pinterest on Google anywhere they are
so so beautiful and I’m excited to make it for you at half the price even more
than that I’m sure so let’s be starting with the video alright guys so I’m going
to start off with the hardest part of the project because I think it pretty
much is pretty easy and I hate to say that because some of you is like that
was not easy but to me it is pretty much just cutting and drilling a couple of
holes and just putting it together you know I’m a little bit of a MacGyver you
know who my diver is I just I’m kind of like an inventor and I like to like just
put things together so I really throughly enjoy it anyway I want to get
this part out the way because I also have to paint it and I like to get the
painting out of the way so this is going to be the front design of the cage and
it’s going to be 48 by 32 and since I don’t have a foam board this 48 by 32 I
am going to be using six of them okay I cut myself
ouch I got blood on it you and I’m going to start by putting two and two together
so four of them the other two I am going to move to this side first I’m going to
blue both boards together with hot glue and then I’m going to go behind it and
tape it with transparent packing tape after gluing and taping it together is
going to look something like this the tape is going to be at the bottom and
the area without the tape is going to be the front and I’m going to go ahead and
start designing the design design in InDesign that’s right
let’s do it so the entire boards together is 60 inches and I only need 48
which is four feet so an easy way to measure this and Center it is going to
be to place the tape on the two feet mark or 24 inches okay so that’s half of
it so now I’m going to mark I have one line over here on my number one and then
I have a line over here on my 48 inch now I’m going to make lines 32 inches
that way in height now I’m going to use my x-acto knife to
cut out my board and I’m going to do one at a time and there it is 48 by 32 not
going to draw the design that I want on my foam board I found this image on
Pinterest and I thought it was simple enough for me to freehand it
so I’m going to go ahead and try to replicate it I’m going to make all sides
four inches I know this is less but I’m just going to make them all even and
make them all four inches make my four inch marks at the top and bottom also to
the left and right make sure that it is centered right here on the left and
right this is 32 inches so you want to make it at your 16 mark as you see right
here it looks like any you so I’m going to use a cup okay so the bottom part is made now I’m
going to move on to the top so after drawing and erasing and drying somewhere
on your racing some more this is what I came up with and I’m satisfied in that
bag now I’m going to go ahead and cut out
the middle and a little bit from the top and here it is guys now I’m going to go
ahead and glue it and tape it top and bottom now I’m going to paint the design
gloss banner red and I’m going to spray painted at a distance because I do not
want to soak the foam board and damage it so just slightly spray until you know
you get the color desired got this beautiful decorative wood design from
Home Depot I got two of them and they were each five dollars and I believe
twenty-five cents and I thought it will look great in front of the cage of the
design you can definitely use stickers is that what you would like but I prefer
to use the wood because it will look more quality like and yeah I’m going to
be painting them also in metallic gold now going to put these two together with
hot glue so now going to move on to D dowels number one because they meet
painting and number two because my husband has to go to work at his life
girl hurry up and you’re definitely gonna need help for someone to hold it
but the other one drills I have two types of dolls they’re both two and a
half feet so they’re both thirty inches and this one is one and a quarter inches
and this one is three quarters okay and they’re going to have holes on both ends
for the little dial I am going to use quarter inch by one and a half inch
dowel screws that are going to go up the bottom and for the top I am going to use
quarter inch wood dowels okay alright so the bottom is going
have the stronger dollar screws and for the top is going to be the wood dowels
alright for the bigger one I am going to use quarter inch by two inch dowel
screws for the top I am going to use 5/16 wood dowels and that’s it so we’re
gonna go ahead and start drilling we’re going to be using a quarter inch drill
bit but first I am going to mark right here the middle we’re gonna place the
Dahle screw make sure that he fits fits just fine we’re just gonna have to twist
it a little more until you only get half an inch okay so only happiness should be
poking out and I’m pretty much doing the same with this one now I’m gonna go
ahead and paint them in metallic gold for the final trimming of the day I’m
going to be making these side panels and these are going to consist of two foam
boards and you are going to glue them together with hot glue as you saw
earlier but for these you are not going to add tape okay no tape for this one so
it won’t look nasty on the sides and I’m going to make it 24 inch by 30 inches
now moving on to the cage / table part of the project and before stop drilling
holes on it I have to dress it up a bit this is melamine wood is also called
Shelby wood this is the same word that I use for my DIY this urquhart I’m going
to link that at the end of this video in case you haven’t seen it so this mell of
my wood comes bare all around the quarters so you will have to buy edging
banding or edging tape you got to iron it on it’s very easy all you have to do
is set your iron to cotton and then you just iron it on and smooth it out with a
piece of wood last time I use my spatula and I’m probably gonna use it again alright so here they are and by the way
I only tape these sides and the front the back is still bare because I’m I’m
banking that I’m only going to use it against a wall but I have extra tape in
case I need to tape it another day alright guys so today is the next day
and I’m actually going to be adding this furniture patterns to the bottom of my
cage and this wasn’t part of the plan I thought about this because I was
thinking how am I going to get the cage once is you know all assemble and then
move it to the living room the only way I could do it is by pushing it so
because this metal of mine is a solid piece of wood it’s pretty heavy so two
of them is going to be extremely heavy so I thought about furniture padding
underneath it so I can just push it to the limit room next I’m going to be
placing my 3/4 dowels on each corner okay this are thicker because they are
going to serve as support and I’m going to be using the tip of the dowel screw
to mark on the middle of mine where I want them to be and then I’m
to grab the drill drill holes with a 3/4 bit and then I’m just going to screw
them on all right so this is about inch and a half from the screw keep in mind
that the middle of mine is only one inch wide so that’s that for the support bars
now I’m going to place the cage bars okay so according to my calculations I
am making this one right here eight inches in and this one here eight inches
in but everything else in between are going to be eight and a half inches
apart okay and for this one I’m drilling my hole about an inch in and it should look something like this
and by the way some of the sticks are a little bent but no worries
as long as you have the same measurements on top on the other board
that’s going to go on top it’s going to be okay they’ll strain up so on the
other bore you’re basically going to do the same measurements as you did on your
other board make sure that is upside down and you are going to drill the hole
so you’re going to mark the holes first for each corner for the support poles
you are going to make them one and a half inches in for all four and for the
front bars you are going to make the 1-inch in okay all right so that’s it
now all I have to do is place it right on top and I almost forgot I already
added wood glue to the dowel pins The Woodlands right on top and now I’m going
to add a little bit more inside the holes of the other mill of my wood so there it is nice now I’m going to add
these side panels all right so not all side panels are created equal this one
was easy to put on this one was a bit of a challenge so I kind of had to cut it
to adjust it and it’s on now so let’s move on to the next step I’m going to
add the from the core and you know what I was thinking that I like the fact that
you will be able to take off the design place a different one a different color
for the theme of your party and just you know just switch it up okay guys this is
it this is my carnival slash circus themed dessert table and it is
absolutely amazing my drawing skills are not the best so
that’s how you got that right there but you guys already knew that about me you
can definitely choose to place a back panel I didn’t think it was necessary
but you can definitely make it if you would like the dimensions will be the
same as the front panel and it’s pretty easy it’s just time-consuming took me a
couple of days to make it and I love it well worth it all right guys please make
sure to give me a thumbs up make sure to leave me a comment to let me know what
you thought of my circus cage dessert table and make sure to share your share
sharing is caring if you know of a friend or family member they will like
to have something like this at the next birthday party make sure to share with
them at the end of this video also make sure to hit the notification bell so
you’ll know every time I upload a video alright guys until next time bye
