Duke Continuing Studies 50th Anniversary – Don Wells

(light music) – I remember talking with
a group of folk in Cherokee for around the area and partway
through that conversation, a fellow said, “You know,
Don, this is the first time “I think Duke has ever
come into our community “and asked us what we
needed and what we wanted.” And that became kind of the
hallmark of the program. It was not run from central office and a lot of people to have a certificate at the end of it with
Duke University on it, meant a great deal for a lot of folk. I don’t know if they became
Duke basketball fans, that’s a far reach for some people, but they thought well of the university. (soft music)
