How to Make Party Hats : Party Hat Supplies

Hi, this is Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts
on behalf of Expert Village and we’re going to make party hats. I’m going to show you
how to make party hats with things that you have on hand. There are three basic bases
that we’ll be using for party hats and a lot of different supplies. Once you know how to
make the base of a party hat and you have some ideas of how to decorate it the sky’s
the limit. The first thing that I want to show you is a simply paper plate. These paper
plates are 9″ in diameter. The bigger the plate the more creative you can get with it,
but there are still plenty of things you can make with a simple 9″ inexpensive paper plate.
Another thing that we are going to make hats out of is construction paper. We have two
different sizes. We have the large construction paper and the small construction paper. You
can make hats out of either size of construction paper. Perhaps one of the most creative things
you can do to make a paper hat or a party hat is to make it out of newspape, and I will
show you a lot of different ideas for making hats out of newspaper. Let me tell you about
some of the supplies you might want to have on hand. If you don’t have someone with you,
a child or an adult, you will need either a bowl or a round bowl or even a bowl like
this to use as a base for your newspaper hat because you’ll have to drape the newspaper
over and wrap it with masking tape. Masking tape is essential for making newspaper hats.
You’ll also need things to fasten your project together. Stapler, glue gun, tape, masking
tape, regular Elmer’s glue is always something that you’ll want to have on hand. Also you’ll
need a pair of scissors and some regular tape. Then some of the things that you might want
to use for decorating would be things like cloth. You could also use wrapping paper from
birthdays and parties and Christmas. Some tulle that we are going to use to make the
Maid Marion hat, some artificial flowers, curling ribbon, fancy scissors, cloth ribbon,
rope, glitter, glitter glue, paints, markers and crayons, plain glitter, confetti and paint
brushes. There are probably other things that you could use as well, but these are the main
things that I’m going to be using to show you how to make a wide variety of fun party
hats.
