Paycom brings you HR’s latest news
and hottest topics Ranked. Office parties: They’re a fun time for employees to build
friendships and let loose, but they can be a nightmare for HR. From employees
drinking too much, wearing too little or just forgetting they’re at a work
function. It can be a lot to handle; however, we’ve got some tips to help
quell the crazy. Here are the top 4 ways to keep a handle on your office party.
Four: Long before the tone-deaf karaoke begins, tell employees what’s okay and
what’s not okay, multiple times and in multiple ways. Then
keep communicating those expectations during and after the party. Even if your
soiree is after work hours, employees should be professional and respectful. Three: You get rules! You get rules! Everyone gets rules, and everyone has to
follow them. No exceptions. Not even your favorite vice president,
who may have just turned the chandelier into a swing. Two: If your shindig includes
alcohol, make sure you don’t accidentally break the law. Providing a shuttle
service, handing out a limited number of drink tickets or choosing a cash bar
over an open one can keep employees safe and reduce your company’s liability
should anything bad happen after the event. One: Despite your best efforts,
sometimes things can get a little cray-cray. If someone is too out of control, remove him or her from the party, but that
uneasy conversation and discipline action should come after the celebration
is over when everyone is of clear mind and back in work mode. How do you keep
office parties fun and appropriate? Let us know in the comments below. Then, make sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to receive notifications
